Intervening early
Proactive Oral Health
As the teeth and mouth grow in the early stages of life, unresolved issues can become more severe the longer they are ignored. Problems can be detected as early as 7 years old. That's why orthodontists recommend regular checkups starting at 7. Proactively recognizing developing issues and intervening to correct them between the ages of 7-11 can prevent more invasive treatment later on. This is generally known as a "Phase 1" treatment. "Phase 2" follows in their teenage years to monitor permanent teeth and their healthy development into adulthood.
Consult with Dr. Mongillo and the Alligator specialists to detect any developing issues before more invasive treatments are required.
"Phase 1" early intervention can help by:
Realign bite problems including crossbites, overbites, underbites, flared teeth, asymmetric skeletal growth, facial disharmony, or misalignments that cause excessive wear on the teeth.
Allow for more room between permanent teeth to avoid impacted teeth, hindering the potential for necessary tooth extractions.
Detect abnormalities with airway development and consistent breathing. Early intervention can identify airway obstructions that can be fixed for healthier air flow.
Become more confident earlier in life with proactive oral health and a positive outward appearance.
